Public Access Restriction for All Non-Emergency Heard County Facilities

To the Citizens of Heard County from Chairman Lee Boone:
The Heard County Board of Commissioners held an emergency meeting on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 4:00 pm to discuss the latest new developments on the COVID-19 pandemic from the CDC. The Commissioners decided to implement responsive measures for the health and safety of our staff and public in response to the State Department of Health and CDC recommendations. The Board voted unanimously to close all public access to all non-emergency Heard County facilities effective March 17, 2020 at 12:00 pm. The closures will remain in effect until further notice, as we closely monitor the daily changes coming out of the CDC. All Heard County Government Operations and staff will continue functioning and employees will still report to work daily, unless this situation warrants further action. All Emergency Services will continue as their protocols are under separate guidelines. The Courthouse will have very restricted access, and any entry will be determined by the Sheriff.
The public is advised and encouraged to call the individual departments with any questions, and special needs you may have. The elected officials and department heads are going to try to process all requests by phone, email and possibly the ability to drop off certain documents at their discretion. We are all in uncharted territory and have never experienced anything like this before. Therefore, I ask each of you to be patient and understanding with us through this difficult time, and the safety and welfare of all citizens of Heard County remains our top priority.
