Notice of Property Tax Increase
Revised August 28, 2025
The Heard County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 18.29 percent.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Heard County Administration Building, 201 Park Avenue Franklin, GA on September 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Heard County Administration Building, 201 Park Avenue, Franklin, GA on September 23, 2025 at 5:00 PM.
This tentantive increase will result in a millage rate of 6.467 mills, an increase of 1 mill. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 5.467 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $60.00 and the proposed tax increase for a non-homestead property with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $40.00.
