Heard County Public Works Now Accepting Applications for
Road Superintendent

The Heard County Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications for the position of Road Superintendent within the Public Works Department.

This position supervises road crews, schedules and inspects work, and ensures all projects meet county and state specifications. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and equipment operation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

     • Supervise, schedule, and evaluate road crew personnel.
     • Plan and oversee road construction, grading and paving acrtivities.
     • Ensure compliance with safety standards and state specifications.
     • Operate heavy equipment as needed and inspect ongoing projects.
     • Patrol county roads to identify maintenance needs.
     • Assist with equipment repairs and roadsdie clean-up.
     • Perform duties of the County Engineer when required.

Qualifications:

     • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in road construction preferred.
     • 3-5 years of related experience, including supervisory experience.
     • Strong knowledge of road maintenance methods and equipment operation.
     • Valid Georgia's license (appropriate class for equipment operated).
     • Physical Requirements: Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions; involving lifting, bending, and operating heavy machinery.
